Photographer Earns 50k Account: This week we take a look at Akeem, one of our newly minted Funded Traders all the way from Jamaica who has just earned his $50k account! He shares not only his simulated trading journey; but principles on risk management, psychology, and a look into his strategy.

What’s your occupation?
I am a photographer
How did you start out in Forex?
My sister came to me and told me about the whole thing. I was not interested at first because it was very confusing with all of the numbers. After a few months, I came back and gave it a shot. I’ve failed a lot before I ever started winning anything.
How did you hear about TFT?
I heard about TFT while watching YouTube videos. There is a channel on YouTube where a Trader named Blake Olson reviews different prop firms. I started watching his video reviews and decided to give TFT a try. After a short while, here we are today!
How do you feel about the Funded Trader’s Community?
The community itself is very friendly. Everyone is so talkative. I like that about TFT, and the fact that TFT caters to their traders is a big plus.
Is there anything you wish you had done differently?
I wish I took the time and resources to find a mentor who would have helped propel me in the right direction. Instead, I learned everything myself and that took a long time.
How many times have you blown an account?
On challenges, funded’s, and personal accounts, it’s around 15-20, but definitely not over 20 accounts.
How much time have you spent on the charts?
Basically, 24/7. Whenever I get the chance, I am on the charts. I love the markets, and so I am always looking at the charts and finding my setups. I realized that I was missing a lot of trades because I was not setting alerts, so I began setting them, and catching more entries as a result.
What is a hard lesson that simulated trading has taught you?
Though I am on the charts a lot, the hardest lesson I’ve learned so far has to be patience. With so many simulated trading opportunities and such high volatility, it is challenging sometimes to stay patient and wait for the right trade setup.
What are some of your favorite pairs?
US30, NAS100 and GBPJPY.
What tell someone looking to get funded with TFT?
I would say, take the time to practice proper risk management. That alone will fail you during the challenge. Take the time to study, make sure you’re good, and when you’re ready you can take the challenge with greater odds of success.
What would you say your simulated trading style is?
Intra-day, Scalper.
What do you believe The Funded Trader will do for this industry and beyond?
I think TFT will be around for a long time. People say FTMO is at the top because it’s been around a long time. I believe the Funded Trader will reach the top and would recommend TFT to anyone looking to get funded.
